How to Configure a cPanel Email Account in Gmail

This guide explains how to configure your cPanel email account in Gmail so you can receive and send emails using your Gmail mailbox.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following information:

• Your full cPanel email address (e.g., [email protected])

• Your email account password

• Your incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mail server details

You can find your mail server settings in cPanel → Email Accounts → Connect Devices (or Configure Mail Client, depending on your cPanel version).

Step 1: Open Gmail Settings

1. Sign in to your Gmail account.

2. Click the Settings (⚙️) icon in the top-right corner.

3. Select See all settings.

Step 2: Add Your cPanel Email Account

1. Go to the Accounts and Import tab.

2. Under Check mail from other accounts, click Add a mail account.

3. Enter your full cPanel email address and click Next.

Step 3: Configure POP3 Settings

Enter the following details:

• Username: Your full cPanel email address

• Password: Your email account password

• POP Server: Your hosting server's incoming mail server

• Port:

  • 995 (Recommended – SSL enabled)

  • 110 (Without SSL)

Select the options that best suit your requirements:

• Leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server

• Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail (recommended)

• Label incoming messages

• Archive incoming messages

Click Add Account.

Note: If you do not remember your email password, you can reset it from cPanel → Email Accounts → Manage → Password.

Step 4: Configure Gmail to Send Mail as Your cPanel Email

After the account is added, Gmail will ask whether you want to send emails using this email address.

1. Select Yes, I want to be able to send mail as this address.

2. Click Next.

Enter the following details:

• Name: The display name you want recipients to see.

• Click Next Step.

Step 5: Configure SMTP Settings

Enter the following information:

• SMTP Server: Your hosting server's outgoing mail server

• Username: Your full cPanel email address

• Password: Your email account password

Choose one of the following SMTP ports:

• 465 with SSL (Recommended)

• 587 with TLS

Click Add Account.

Step 6: Verify Your Email Address

Gmail will send a verification email to your cPanel email address.

Since the account has already been added to Gmail, the verification email should appear in your Gmail inbox.

1. Open the verification email.

2. Copy the verification code (or click the verification link).

3. Enter the code into Gmail and click Verify.

That's It!

Your cPanel email account is now configured in Gmail.

You can now:

• Receive emails from your cPanel mailbox in Gmail.

• Send emails from Gmail using your cPanel email address.

• Manage both your Gmail and cPanel email accounts from a single inbox.

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to configure the account, check the following:

• Verify that the email address and password are correct.

• Confirm that the POP3 and SMTP server names match the details shown in cPanel → Email Accounts → Connect Devices.

• Ensure the correct ports are used:

  • POP3: 995 (SSL) or 110

  • SMTP: 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS)

• Make sure SSL/TLS is enabled when using the recommended secure ports.

• If the issue persists, contact your hosting provider for further assistance.
